What Did You Play This Week? (Feb 17 - Feb 23)

Champions of Midgard (1x2p) - My wife liked this better than Raiders of the North Sea after one play, which was surprising. I haven't played this game in a very long time, basically since getting Raiders. It's still a lot of fun and certainly plays differently enough. It takes a heck of a lot longer to setup and put away though, definitely takes more time to play. Looking forward to playing it again, though I still prefer Raiders.

Wingspan (2x2p, 2x3p) - Several more plays of this has confirmed to me that I prefer this over Seasons for a light-weight, quick engine builder. Now that we actually remember to refresh the market cards between rounds, that small market doesn't bother me as much. I do think the game still has enough randomness to it (mainly in what cards you get) that you can lose simply due to bad luck. It's a quick enough game that it isn't a big deal, but that combined with the limited (comparatively) ways to build your engine and the game ending right as your engine tends to get going will keep this (and other light engine builders) from having anything on a game like Terraforming Mars other than playtime and ease in teaching.

Raiders of the North Sea (1x2p) - Remains a smooth, quick playing worker placement.

Happy to see my wife more and more interested in playing new games. She's enjoyed playing games since we started dating, but we've stuck to the same 4-5 games for a long time, and now are branching out more, which is good, because I have ~70 games and she hasn't played most of them.
