The last time I tried playing fighting games I would play with my friends fairly often. We went in with the idea we would all learn together. One of my friends spend hours and hours practicing a 40 some odd % combo and then did it on me repeatedly. I didn't know how to stop the combo or even if it was possible to stop it once it started. That was enough for me to stop playing, cause honestly I didn't wanna put in the time to even learn one characters combos let alone what a few dozen characters could do.

Nearly everyone online knows basic combos like that, not necessarily that damaging but even a 20% combo that someone can do quickly and repeatedly sucks the fun out instantly. It feels bad to be completely crushed and have no real idea what I'm supposed to do differently. So I stopped playing and haven't played a fighting game since.
