What do you do and how much do you get paid?

Physician averaging around $350K annually. I love what I do. But I work 60+ hr weeks regularly. The on-call is shit, the stress is high, and the burnout is real. Tons of weekends and evenings. Missed my daughters first steps, her first words, and countless other milestones. Didn’t start earning that salary until I was 33…36 now and tons of debt. Peers of mine are far more along in their respective careers, some knocking on the door of retirement with full pension from public service in 10 more years. I’m just getting started. Oh and I have no pension, no sick leave, no benefits. I wouldn’t change what I do, and admittedly I am well compensated, but I would caution others considering this career to think about these factors. Oh also your 20s and early 30s are history…you’ll give up your fun years in exchange for textbooks and late night anatomy sessions.
