What do you do when you don't like your friend's music?

After 60 years, and considerably before that, I realized that there is considerably more to aesthetics than the material itself. There are psychological implications, mainly association. Every one could tell you of well played, well recorded music they don't care for. In my case I always seemed to like music I got a good first impression of. I also noticed music I didn't like initially became more amenable from subsequent associations and vice versa. Another good example is music associated with cinema. Another subjective factor is political association, associating music with eras, certain events (public and private) and personalities. I usually try and explain these things as well as possible.
