What does audiophile mean to this group?

Everyone rates their system by their level of enjoyment.

It's what leads people to post pictures of their equipment that's not in any way audiophile by quality, sound, or price... and yet, it's better to them than what they were hearing before, and more importantly, they were pursuing that better sound.

‘my humble setup’ or ‘first audiophile system’

This is what people post when they are "blown away" and "hear details they never heard before" even when they get a pair of speakers that are definitely not "audiophile" grade, or they get an old turntable that definitely does not sound good to most experienced audiophiles.

But the reason they are posting is because their equipment sounds much better than what they heard out of the soundbar, boombox, bluetooth, tablet or phone, and usually their car as well.

Having a sound in mind and pursuing it, or wanting to hear music sound "better," is what makes one an audiophile. Having said that, yes, audiophilia is a pursuit, but, true audiophile equipment is at a certain level of sound and build quality, and price. You can't get away from that. It's part of it, too, despite what you "wish."
