What does it mean to be well dressed?

The problem with that is that it ties someone's clothing to their character, and assumes that clothing not deemed socially acceptable for the occasion flouts rules of conduct and deems that person disrespectful. That is how it is, but it's problematic IMO. If I'm going to say that someone's clothes can inherently be a show of respect or lack thereof (which ties someone's clothing to their intentions), then I can make all sorts of unsavory assumptions, for example about someone who is dressed revealingly. It's a very dangerous standard in my opinion.

Additionally, I find dressing to some kind of lofty social standard for the fetishization of the slaughter of innocent animals (which is really what fine dining is) to be grotesque. I eat meat, but I'm not waxing lyrical about how tender a $60 slab of baby cow is.
