What drives this subreddit

My demographic: Not here to argue "aginst" bitcoin - just here to watch the shitshow and enjoy the comments. This reddit sub is still interesting and engaging to read and dissenting voices make it better.

I still hold a few BTC but long past breaking even as my average buy price was $600 per coin. I'm casually interested as an outsider in how the tether scam and shilling works and for some reason I'm particularly interested in testing fiat offramps from BTC which is why I sold coins at 19K and 33K recently just to confirm that, yep, I can still get a wire transfer of real useful US Dollars into a real bank account. I suspect the biggest shock is going to come when BTC crashes and people realize that they can't turn their "profits" into useful money -- the exit ramps are few, slow and require all sorts AML and KYC compliance. People who think they are rich now are going to get rekt hard

My personal motivation: As a technology blockchain is not particularly worth a ton of my time or continued interest (your milage may vary). Write-once databases are a long solved problem with a known and limited market that is well served by technology that actually works in demanding production environments. A "distributed ledger" is the same damn thing with new lipstick on a new pig.
