What was the dumbest reason you’ve ever been pulled over for?

I was a teenager living in a small city in Texas. I was barely 16, and only had my license for a few months. Drove past a cop that was pulled over on the side of the road, lights on, with nobody pulled over. Apparently there was a law that had just passed that stated you had to slow down 20 MPH below the posted speed limit when passing an emergency vehicle. Speed limit was 35, I got pulled over for going 25, when I should have been going 20.

It was more the principal of the whole thing. I can understand if there was some actual emergency going on, but he was literally just sitting on the side of the road with his lights on waiting to pull people over that didn’t know the law had just passed (is that considered entrapment?)

Oh, and there were multiple other cars in front of me that were going as fast/faster. When I asked the cop about them, his reply was some smug “we can’t pull over everyone”. I assume he profiled me for being a long haired 16 year old kid.

Also went and found the exact law: it’s called the “Move Over Law” and the bill for it got passed on September 1st of 2003 (I got my license when I turned 16, in July of that year)
