What is the dumbest thing someone has genuinely believed in?

"Figuring out the viability of each case"

Vaccinations giving autism is not viable at all. The first signs of autism occurs around the time children get the vaccinations. Often parents are so depressed and upset over their children having autism that they need to find something to blame. However, vaccinations do NOT cause autism. The ONE article that claimed this had an EXTREMELY SMALL sample size and was completely PROVEN WRONG. Further, you say that something is wrong with 1 in 100 children being diagnosed with autism but that DOES NOT MEAN you can blame it on vaccinations which have helped eradicate horrible diseases such as polio. No, it is not just about sanitation (although that does help, of course), but also to do with the fact that vaccinations help train our immune system to fight viruses and deadly illnesses. If you use the logic that 1 in 100 children are diagnosed with autism, you might as well start blaming all sorts of childhood illnesses on vaccinations. I agree that we should be collective in our thinking and seek out solutions, but the solutions have been sought and the proof is there. Vaccinations do not cause autism.
