What else?

There's a super high and steep hill near my house, in winter we'd go sledding there all the time. It was my mother who showed us the place because she used to go sleeding there all the time, like her father did before her.

There's huge trees everywhere on the slope. It's literally called "Pine Hill". We'd just try to avoid them, often unsucessfully. We'd dare each other to go down hill while standing up on our GT. We built jumps and shovelled fresh snow to make landing pads for our more acrobatic prowesses. They day my brother managed a no hand backflip from his GT is still engraved in my memory.

In the summer we'd ride downhill on our mountain bikes. Same concept.

Went to check out the place last year on a run. City put a huge fence around it (thus ending a century long debate about who's the hill owner), and also put orange safety net fences around each tree. All jumps were destroyed, and gates were installed in most paths. There's a huge sign saying sledding is forbidden.

The only sledding spot left in town is in a school yard. That's about 1/8th the height of Pine Hill. The city build snow slides with an appropriate slope, helmets are required, and GT are forbidden.

I'm sad for kids these days.
