What ever happened to the Zelda 35th anniversary?

They are going to have a Zelda game and watch similar to the Mario one. That's the only official anniversary product as far as I know.

I guess you could count Skyward Sword and the Zelda joycons? I'm not sure why they didn't try to pass those off as part of the "anniversary".

Don't forget that for Mario they were planning to open Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan in 2020. That was likely a huge reason why they made a point to do the Mario 35th anniversary. Unfortunately we all know that the pandemic disrupted that.

If they hadn't done the Mario 35th anniversary stuff no one would have cared about the Zelda 35th, but it seems no one really gets that the Mario 35th was actually really a special case due to the USJ Super Nintendo World planned opening.

The pandemic is still going pretty strong in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if that affected things.
