What to expect with my first IT job. Things to look out for?

Don't take anything for granted, gather evidence of what the users say is correct. Don't submit tickets on behalf of others or do research on behalf of others unless it's urgent and comes from directly above you. Document everything, do not modify anything without written permissions or an approved ticket on PROD systems or at least consult with a 'Senior' but this can backfire if shit hits the fan. If there is an issue with a coworker and you can't solve it individually, get your team lead or supervisor involved. Even as a junior, you can disagree or even deny tasks (if it gets out of hand) you think is not appropriate for your role or current technical level. Own up to your mistakes, don't lie about it, don't try to shift the blame to somebody else, we all make mistakes, how you handle them is the most important.
