What is extremely rare but people think it's very common?

This is sort of related, but I've had a hard time verbalizing it in a way that doesn't seem incentive so I'll just say it. Every time there is a gang rape in a village in India the men in the West seem to have to pay for it in some way. It blows up all over our media, but that isn't exactly the same as the problems we're having here. Yes it's very bad, but we aren't exactly having village gang rapes in California or burning women for not being virgins, yet some how I feel like Western women are blaming Western men for it and it has become our responsibility. I'm not really sure what to do about gang rapes in India, but there is this general vibe of blame I feel as a man on the other side of the world and I don't think it's exactly fair. Yes, we have problems, but they aren't the same problems as in other parts of the world and I think context needs to be considered. For instance sex trafficking in America isn't exactly the same as sex trafficking in Indonesia. They are both terrible, but in America it might be a prostitute who has been seduced while in Indonesia it might be a whole brothel of underage girls. I'd like it pointed out sometimes that men in the West aren't perfect, but all men aren't the same around the world and we're not all responsible for what all other men are doing all around the world. Of course there are still problems around the world and we should all probably do something about it, but I would ask that every time some horrible thing happens to a girl in India or Saudi Arabia please don't smack your boyfriend from Wisconsin. I just wanted to get that off my chest.
