What fact could probably save your life?

I was once trying out my new jeep in an under construction development.

All of the sudden some teenager comes up on me with a gun, being an asshole saying get off my property.

Well it happens that I was affiliated with the bank that owned that property and I knew there was nothing happening on it for at least 6 months when an Academy Sports and apartment complex would be built.

Either way I left and this psycho kid is trying to follow me, running up on me etc....it's the age before smartphones so I drove to the police station and he didn't follow.

But I couldn't let it go.

I used my gis and bank software and found out all about this kid and his dad who ran a hunting guide service. Real assholes, I won't go into value judgements too much but they were typical rebel flag waving belligerent assholes.

So I start checking in on these people every few months. Son moves out into an apartment across town. Dad files bankruptcy but keeps the house. Buildings get built, land all developed.

So it's now 2010ish, some 6 years after the gun incident.

I'm dating a bartender at the local town pub, one of about 15 in this particular place. I hang out a lot from 1am-4am and help clean up etc and then we'd usually go get burritos.

Well the Gun Kid starts coming to this pub a lot. He's a big shot with a huge pickup truck and he's king-shit boar hunter or whatever. He never recognizes me...and I wouldn't have recognized him either if I hadn't been checking up on him with facebook.

One night he's being a real ass. He says to my g/f the bartender "I could #### you better than your boyfriend ever could!" which wasn't unusual for her to hear but that night it pissed her off and I could see her face was red and she was getting all 'slammy' with the glasses.

Kid leaves at 2:15am after hanging out way past last call with an empty redbull in his hand making threats and shouting in-jokes to his buddies.

I hear the loud exhaust on his truck and the wheels squeal.

Call up the city police station (which is mid-way between this bar in downtown and his apartment on the westside) and say "My buddy XXX XXX just left the bar after we tried to get his keys. He's way too drunk. He's going to get someone killed."

So he gets arrested and I'm overjoyed. Prick really deserves it.

I check back the county jail website like 4 days later and he's still in there.....same charge, DWI and it says "no bond."

I check back like a week later. Dude is still in jail...."no bond"

I check the court website and his case has no police report or anything. Check parole absconders and he's got nothing.

Forget about it for like 6 months and then check back. Still in jail! Still "no bond" so now I'm really curious. I used to date a jailhouse deputy so I facebooked her a link to the dude and it turns out he was wanted for a vehicular homicide in Texas (next state over).

So now, like 14 years later, I check on him every week or so while he does 20-life. He's taken some anger management classes like 5 times in a row. He's taken some substance abuse and conflict resolution classes.

He's up for Parole in like 5 years and you better believe that even if I make and ass out myself trying to tell the parole board my experience with this guy I'll do it.

tl:dr don't pull guns on people in a small town
