What feature is the 6s gonna have to make people buy it?

Because miniaturization tech has increased, and they will be eliminating the 5 line, they'll probably re-do the whole iPhone line with a new naming convention:

  • iPhone 6C -- the form factor of the iPhone 5. It's the plastic phone you'd give your children with up to date iPhone 6 tech innards. A non-cellular version would also be the basis of the iPod touch.

  • iPhone 6S -- the form factor of the iPhone 5s with the tech of the current iPhone. Intended for those with smaller hands, but no other compromises.

  • iPhone 6M -- the form factor of the iPhone 6. It would have some bumps in tech (also in other models, space permitting).

  • iPhone 6L -- the iPhone 6+ form factor.

From here, Apple can maintain the naming that consumers are familiar with of large, medium, small, and compact sizes on future lines. Before long the iPhone X numbers will go away and it will simply be the iPhone 2016 (the same as they do with the Mac line), but everyone will simply talk of the "current" iPhone models.

As for tech they might introduce?

  • speed bumped Arm chip

  • Bluetooth earbuds -- but the real goal would be to eliminate the earphone jack. Try it out and see if consumers accept or reject this with this "in-between" release.

  • USB-C charging cable -- Other than things with inductive charging, Apple's charge cables are moving to similar goals. If the MacBook does okay in first month sales, ditch lightning for a universal charging cable for most Apple products based on USB-C

  • force touch home button -- still needs to be an indention for TouchID but essentially turns lower bezel into a home button. Gives engineers time to work out Force Touch gestures, while doing the whole screen might still be problematic.

  • a new sensor -- one of the many rumored in the works for first release of Apple Watch that didn't make it, but in the larger phone would be no problem. What is it? Humidity? Air pressure? Breathalyzer? Who knows, but there's probably at least one that'd make sense on a phone

  • hardware optimized for things in iOS 9 -- while iOS 9 will work with everything back to iPhone 5, it'll likely have features in ApplePay, Handoff, Continuity, CarPlay, AppleTV, HealthKit, and HomeKit that they've found would be even better if it had updated chips for Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, or whatever. The old versions of Apple's stuff will work, but new versions will be an "optimized" experience.
