What the fuck should I do?

The more you film on your phone (or less professional equipment) the more creative it makes you. You learn the ways to make it work and also learn editing techniques to make up for lack of equipment. Don’t give up and don’t ever think filming on a phone isn’t good enough. That’s how I stated (on iPhone 7) until I could afford my first camera (which was recently) which is a basic 1500D but it’s a massive upgrade for me and I’m enjoying using it. Everyone would have stated the same too. No one stated out making films on expensive equipment unless they had rich parents!

I’m 29 this year and will be going to film school next year, as a ‘newbie’ 30 year old. You’re still so young there is plenty of time, but just don’t ever give up! Create with what you have now and share it with the world and take on the feedback you receive as feedback is very important in bettering yourself, especially when you listen and act on it.

I can’t speak for your relationship but don’t ever let anyone hold you back from your dreams. If I was with someone who didn’t support me, he’d have to go. As much as you might love her, you need to love YOURSELF more and do what makes you happy so you can thrive and not live with constant regrets. Speak to her about how this is your passion, if it’s still going to be a problem what you do is going to have to be your choice but please do not let anyone hold you back from your dreams. You sound a lot like me, and I was held back from my dreams all through my late teens and 20’s which is why I’m almost 30 and will be going back to school for the first time in 14 years to finally study what I love but I really do regret not doing what I wanted at an earlier age.

Good luck! Now go out, film and create!
