What is the general sentiment of mainland Chinese citizens towards the events in Hong Kong?

Most i have talked too think Hong Kong should have its own government. They believe one country two systems is still in effect and should be in effect. They don't really know why Hong Kong is protesting, the government propaganda portrays the protests as a small group who want to break away from China. They believe they are being supported by foreign influence.

It is pretty funny seeing the pure hatred on this sub. I don't think i have ever meet any mainlanders who have said anything negative about Hong Kong or its people. Yet the hatred from Hong Kong to mainlainders borders on just pure racism.

Ultimately China is huge and outside of Guangdong the protests have no effect on anyone's lives. I haven't even seen anything on wechat moments from locals about HK the entire time the protests have been going on.
