What do you genuinely not understand?

Im a bts stan i think i can try to answer this question. I listen to other groups as well but mainly bts

Note that im speaking for myself/how i see it

1)the size and the level of commitment of the fandom that encourage new fans to do the same. Since the fandom is huge there are many skilled/funny people that create entretaining stuff. They make it fun to be in the fandom, you can also make friends being part of it, so like, in order to feel part of the group you tend to follow what it does. I think that's one of the reasons the fans stream so much and talk about them everywhere. There are people that genuinely care about the views and i personally can't understand that either. They probably want the songs to chart/break records so that they can feel proud/brag about it to non kpop fans. Some probably see kpop as "their thing", mostly bc it's are not recognized as much as western artists in western countries, so when they win important awards they feel extra proud i think(?) Like: "bts paved the way" or "the first korean group that made it to the grammys" "1st on billboard"

2)the artists often share/show their life a lot and it kinda gives the fans a illusion that they know their idols very well and often they have interesting personalities/dynamics. (not implying that they're definitely faking 100% of it)

3)i think shipping culture is a big factor too, that makes one feel attached to the group. The fans don't necessary believe that the ships are real, some do but others ship for fun.

4)referring to 1 it could be that you want to feel part of a group.

I personally find the obsession for the views kinda silly and how ppl bring up kpop under totally unrelated content can be very annoying but i think i get why some do that.

Ofc the large part of the fandom actually love their content but i thought about the potential reasons that lead to huge obsession.
