I have a Facebook acquaintance who is a fully fledged grief vampire. She's the first person to repost the death of a celebrity, the first to share some grisly news story, and a few years ago, when a group of teenagers were brutally murdered (one of whom grew up in the neighborhood and with whom we all had a passing acquaintance), she set her profile to public and friended the grieving mom so everyone could see her interacting on that poor woman's posts. She kept sharing news accounts of the investigation and getting all kinds of sympathy because she was so devastated by the loss of her dear friend's child. It was 10 shades of disgusting and I distanced myself as fast as I could.
