I've been thinking about this a lot. Specifically, why would the Republican party be so crass when it comes to dealing with Coronavirus. It might be true that they are so incompetent that they are truly incapable of effective mitigation, or that Trump's influence within the party is so strong that they have to deal with his retarded floundering. But, just for the sake of argument, I'm going to assume otherwise.

Let's say the Republican party as a whole is competent enough to deal with coronavirus but chooses not to, and that Trump, while a narcissistic psychopath, isn't stupid (he might be the best con man in history after all).

So that means that they see an long term advantage to letting things play out according to this plan. They seek to maximize deaths and poverty rates, destroy as many small businesses as possible, transfer as much wealth to the financial elite as they can, and allow- even sanction- as much interference in the voting process as possible (mail in ballots anyone?).

Essentially, what I'm seeing is a coup d'é·tat of the democratic process in the United States and a final and total destruction of the middle class. Sadly, *this makes perfect sense*. Historically, our economy was set up to grow by 2-3% annually, and we have build everything around this rate of growth. But if this rate of growth were to be plotted, we would see that it would follow an exponential curve, meaning that the economy would require far more growth by year two hundred than it would have in year two. Eventually this rate of growth will become impossible to maintain, and the economy would slow down as a result. But the problem is, our economy by definition cannot handle reduced rates of growth. When growth slows its called a recession, and when it stops or, god forbid, shrinks, its a depression. 2008 was the first sign that we are entering this phase, and our entire system has been propped up by market gymnastics and Federal Reserve voodoo ever since. I'm guessing that this is the moment of truth, when it could all come crashing down in a sort of controlled demolition set up by, and allowed by, the ruling elite.
