I take Mr Mattis very seriously and have long seen him as a legendary. While I support our presidents decision to make the USA our top priority, I also agree with Mr Mattis that we need to remain close to our allies, and I believe that without some of our big ones (which we have slammed recently) that we could be losing some wars that I expect to come up sooner than later.

I support the presidents directness. I wish that there was a nice way to say “you’ve not been paying your fair share so pay up” and if there is I wish he would have said it instead of saying we were getting ripped off in regards to NATO funding.

I am split between both sides of thinking. I agree with both views. In full disclosure though, I did not read the whole letter.
