What group did you used to stan and what made you stop?

There's no need to; their songs aren't connected to their MVs so it's easy to filter out the theory parts :D

On the contrary, I thought K-pop was really shallow and only for kids. It's really just a matter of taste. Seeing the bright pop tunes and outfits was such a turn-off and when songs like Gee became popular, I could only think "you have the talent to influence thousands of people right now, you spent your whole LIFE for this... and this is what you want to contribute to the world?" and I didn't understand why idols who weren't allowed to date, kept talking about love.

People can be shamed so quickly for their hobbies and I think the easiest way to respond to that is with proof that your hobby has made you a better person. Watching BTS tends to feel like validating your whole appreciation of K-pop, because "if I'm learning at the same time, how can it be bad?"

As a final thought, in general it's great if K-pop forces people to read and do their research lol. This "hobby" sucks too much of everyone's time, including fans who are still in school and should be studying. If idols don't find a way to educate their fans, the future K-pop fandom will end up as a group of low-achieving graduates with a poor work ethic.
