What do you guys think are the best ways to achieve islamic unity in a more practical sense?

Yes, you have good points.

1, to unite, before the Khilafah - I think education in Islam/Fiqh/‘aqida/Shariah/Islamic systems, returning to Islam, increasing in service to Allah, spreading awareness of Khilafa, are the most important things we need to personally work on right now. That’s the first thing, after that it’s long term, and really, it’s doubtful we’ll get past the educational aspects of it in our lifetimes. We just need to try our best to spread awareness and increase in service to Allah. Just educating ourselves on our beliefs and increasing ‘Ibada will help us.

2 - an EU type thing is possible, the EU exists. We don’t need all Muslim countries at once - now that’s impossible - , even just one or two would be good, and then we can work on others. That’s why we should work in democracies, where it’s far easier.

  1. The rich and powerful That is an extremely hard obstacle, however even if democracy is flawed, we can still get some results out of it. In the end, if there is enough popular support for it, then the rich will have to support it. And think about it. The taxes under Islam are far less than right now. I think we need to focus on democracy, because if there is a good candidate (not Khaleefa just general elections) then we can feasibly get someone in with enough support. And remember, Islamic governance isn’t socialism, the rich can stay rich, it’s fine, we just need to tax them a little bit really. In the end, they won’t be able to go against the masses in democratic countries.

Revolutions....where have they ever helped us before? Essentially never. We’ve had countless revolutions, so much bloodshed, and people are tired of it. People don’t want it. People won’t support it. People have died from it.

  1. Agreed. But KSA isn’t going to keep a lot of support the way it’s going now...

  2. Of course, I don’t accept the Shia that curse the Sahaba (ra), but I’m not really sure about the proportions - is it majority? Minority? Who curse them. Even if they (the alright Shia) believe in some other Khalifa, it’s possible they will see the practicality in joining us, but in the end it’s up to them. There’s no requirement to have them join in. You’re right, we are still 90% of the Muslims.

Again, past point no. 1 is really long term, and it’s doubtful we’ll reach there anytime soon. So we need to focus on point no. 1.

I would leave you with an Ayah from Surat Noor -

Just a reminder, to never lose hope!
