What happened to Amazon?

Here's where things go from me not being screwed over, to me being mildly screwed based on Amazon.

The Bloodborne pre order was literally nothing but a "sorry" - they oversold the pre-orders on the item and some people got their stuff upwards of a month after release date, despite having pre ordered months in advance.

I was lucky enough to get one a few days after guaranteed sale.

That's not a big issue in itself, and I didn't come to a Reddit forum to complain about it.

The second item, the HORI Fighting Pad 4 for PS4 - was pre ordered a month before it stated release date of May 4th. On May 6th I still hadn't received the item so I went on my account to see that the item had been changed to "Item on back-order delivery date unknown."

I was never notified the item I had pre-ordered, that stated it would ship May 4th, had been oversold. I had to go see for myself.

That's still whatever - it's an inconvenience, but shit happens. I didn't come to a Reddit sub-forum to complain about it.

When discussing the HORI Fighting Pad with customer service, I noted that I had a Mad Catz TE2 Fighting Stick on pre-order that was slated to be released on the 30th of this month. I told them that I enter tournaments with prizes in excess of 20 grand for first place, and that there are entry fee's.

I told them that I could order it from another vendor who is local, and would have it on May 30th - but that I wanted to stick with Amazon because I've been a loyal customer for a while now.

The response from the customer service rep was exactly this, pasted from the transcript: "11:48 AM PDT (name redacted): I can guarantee you it will be Jason and you can check on the changes of the order here, (link redacted)."

Note that I was VERY specific about the date the stick would be shipped to me - she's not guaranteeing me that it will ship on release date, she's guaranteeing me that it will ship May 30th.

Literally 3 days later, and 24 hours after I had submitted my $150 - non refundable entry fee to the tournament - the fighting stick's date was changed to TWO MONTHS later.

When I spoke with customer service they were very short with me, very rude with me - and their only answer was "Sorry, I can show you how to delete your account if you'd like."

That last comment is what made me come to a Reddit forum to complain.

Not any of the other stuff, even being set back $150 for an entry fee based on a written guarantee from an Amazon employee for the item I needed to specifically compete in the tournament. The statement of "Sorry, I can show you how to delete your account if you'd like." is so condescending and passive aggressive in a "fuck off, you're bothering me" way that I was done.

Now I don't know what caused some one to look over my account this morning and give me a $150 "Good Will Refund" to reimburse me for my tournament entry fee.

It could have been this Reddit forum, and it could have been requesting my account be cancelled.

Yes the items were all marked as "Sold by Amazon."

I can't go to the second provider local to me, they sold out in the 3 day period that Amazon changed the shipping date.

Obviously they have a bad practice of over selling their pre order stock in the Video Game department without giving it much thought.

If you don't see a problem with what I've described - then you're either woefully ignorant of what customer service should be, or just blindly loyal to Amazon.
