What happened to Biden’s promise of forgiving student debt? | America should not be a country that punishes the ambition of learning the skills to serve our communities with a lifetime of insurmountable debt.

I sort of agree here. For one, its not going to happen. They cant and wont forgive student loans. But the interest is stupid. I have more balance than I ever borrowed, and I have paid quite a lot back. I cant outrun the interest of just federal loans, which are generally considered low interest. I am even lucky enough to have done well after university. First in family to even have a bachelors, but the tradeoff for me was that i had to go into debt at a very young age. Really, i didn't know what i was getting into. I just did my best day to day to pass my classes and do whatever the financial aid dept. told me to do. Now years later, I can look at it and say, "well, i should have paid attention to those details". But honestly, I did what i could have at the time. I didn't have anyone to tell me better, and all I could do was hope that I wasn't being swindled. At the end of the day, its a risk I took, and honestly, it paid off for me (even though it doesn't quite reach the level i would wish), but I cant act like I knew what I was getting into or that anyone really let me know. I am happy to pay my loans, but I am not happy to be in debt for literally ever. The interest is too much, and the education on accepting these loans shouldn't be ignored.
