What happened when you made a SO feel contained/depended on?

No but I've been the one who felt "contained". Me and my wife have one care. I work from home 24/7 and can't leave often due to the nature of my job, but when I would like to leave I rarely get the chance because she wants the car to go back and forth to work.

She doesn't want me to drive her because she likes to go out and see friends after work and I can't stay gone that long. So I was constantly facing a situation where I needed or wanted to drive somewhere but couldn't, and I felt like I completely depended on her whims if I wanted to used the car.

We eventually bought another car, but for a while we just started discussing and planning out when I would use it or when she would keep it and it worked out for the most part. Basically it took more effort on both our parts to communicate our needs and make a schedule, where before we were just failing at that completely.
