What happened in your country this week? 08-02-2015

Putin agreed to stop war for another round of land concessions. But ceasefire is only on 15. Till then, Russian army is trying(succesfully, believe it or not) to completely encircle and destroy Ukrainian army in Debaltsevo. And almost nobody writes or makes statements about this just not to demoralize, not to take any responsibility. I'm talking both about Ukrainian authorities and European ones.

Weather is interesting. There is snow, but not cold. Very grey.

Economy is shit. Parents' "building gear"(I don't know a general word for it) shop is stagnating. Nonetheless, father gave lots of inventory to the army. Received some ridiculous soviet-styled "thank you" piece of paper. Showed to me with proud.

Politics is shit as well. There was a fistic fight in parliament between our main anticorruption crusader Sobolev and some random deputy Ivchenko from allegedly friendly allegedly pro-everything-good party. Sobolev accused Ivchenko of staging information campaign against Sobolev's effort to protect city-land from stealing by some grey "buying for a very cheap price" schemes. I think such little struggles for transparency and justice are very important, but - funny thing - we just don't have enough good journalists to give this adequate coverage and public opinion mobilization. Journalists are constantly writing about war. And it makes sense: if country to become a vassal, we wouldn't have a say about political/economical/judicial situation, it will become like that of a master-power, but even worse.

Funny thing about Russian media. Some our guy made a statement, saying: "This ceasefire won't hold for long. Russian forces received orders to take Mariupol and Debaltsevo before 15 at any cost". Russian media reported about it like this: ... Some Ukrainian guy said: "This ceasefire won't hold for long. ...(enemy) forces received orders to take Mariupol and Debaltsevo before 15 at any cost" ...'

They just dropped the word "Russian" from a statement. Because why not? In such times I wonder what would happen historically, if muricans nuked Euroschmucks and not Japan. Europe could be a good place, I think.

Sad week, and it's far from end.
