What happens to the people who just don't cut it when it comes to be a productive individual with Federation citizenship?

From what I've seen, everyone lives in relative luxury with plenty to eat.

I'd like to imagine this is due to massive amounts of resources thanks to advanced space travel, along with easy production of food and goods thanks to replicators, or advanced AI. It a character like Data can exist, I'm sure automated factories or farms that require no human supervision are also possible.

I wonder how much of daily life is automated. You only need a crew for a starship because certain decision can't be made by a machine, but even Data shows that may not be necessarily true.

Also, with the need for money gone, who is to say what is valued? I work very hard, yet make a low wage. You don't want to admit it, but most of you wouldn't value me as a useful member of your society. You'd look at me and my dirty uniform and not want to even know me.

Even with no pay, people will want to be doctors or Federation officers or whatever they want to be. I know I'd love to be able to choose my job, or at least a attempt to learn one.

I really just don't think there would be as many freeloaders, if that could even still be considered a thing, in that type of world.
