What is the hardest truth about the headphone hobby in your opinion?

in all honesty you don't need to pay a ton of money to get all the details out of a track no matter what anyone says.

Headphones/Speakers already peaked for that. The DT 770/ER4/HD6X0 are 20+ years old the difference to any killobuck is only very minor at best.

The HD560S/ER3XR both with EQ's are still kings for $160. Bit like you can walk away with $199 2.0 monitors with EQ then use a woofer for under 80Hz.

My biggest hard truth is that 99.9% of the time <192kbps Lossy audio is enough if AAC/Vorbis/Opus. I have no idea why people use 320kbps MP3 when they can use 160k on modern codecs or do any ABX to see if they can get away 96kbps Opus 1.3?.
