Not exactly a hobby buuut... We have a lot of family members who know german, so they’d force me to study from time to time and I was admittedly good at it. One time I started learning Spanish on my own and I even preferred it over german. Its not as widely spoken in my country as in America and europe so it wasn’t easy. I got the basic grammar down, learned a bit of vocab , but I was having problems with speaking and pronunciation so I asked for a tutor, when my grandma heard this she dismissed it saying I should work on german, saying things like “what Spanish? Why do you need Spanish for, go work on something more useful”. a month later I gave up on Spanish cuz learning on my own was tough enough. A month later I learned that she enrolled my cousin into a Spanish class right after I told my family I had been trying to learn it and I wanted a tutor... so now I don’t know Spanish and I gave up on german cuz I hated it from the start.
