Not hate, because I like the family gathering... but the whole hyper-consumerism part of Christmas is really pissing me off.

We're at the point where we make list, share them with people, and look at their list and buy them stuff... at this point, just buy whatever you want with the money you'd spend on others! Most gift are not even that much original, we just bury kids under tons of toys that will be stored on a tablet for the next year...

The social pressure of having to buy stuff to people, the overspending on celebrations... huge xmas trees, huge everything...

Can I just pitch in 50$, we rend a place, have a meal and have a family gathering ? WOuld be way cheaper for everyone, we'd have one hell of a meal, and a nice moment once a year with the whole family.
