What was a house rule you had as a kid that you thought was completely normal until you grew up and realized not all households followed?

Be quiet all the time. Mom worked crazy hours has a NICU nurse in a public hostipal and went to college to finish her rn, would wake up in the middle of the night to spend time with me when I was a baby, imagine taking care of drug-addicted babies and moms while waking your baby up at 3 am. Anyway, dad played football and got beat a lot, was caring, didn't yell, but had neurologolical damage. Raised by older sister, 11 years older, so 11 yo raising a baby, 12 yo raising a 1 yo. Don't remember much, but dang, when I was about 5-7, accompanied her to her pizza job, all day at pizza joint, so boring, go to deliver and I tipped the box, holey hell, you'd think satan himself ordered the pizza. So yeah, be quiet, mom may be passed out asleep on the couch cause we're really poor, or don't move cause your sister will freak out about a pizza or whatever
