What was a huge disappointment once you finally got to see it?

Adulthood.

Independence is great. Living in an apartment with my S/O is great. Paying bills and taxes kinda sucks but it's not that bad. The biggest problem for me is the social aspect. Friends always trying to one-up each other, nonstop talk about marriage and children, friends that used to hang with you don't have time anymore because of all their big adult responsibilities. It's exhausting to even hold a conversation with adults under 30. They all act like being an adult is a personality trait. Especially the ones that act like they have their shit together and try to remind everyone to invest in 401ks and give other unsolicited, pseudo-expert advice on things.
