What if psychiatric medication is the last thing I haven't tried?

I went down the path many years ago, so I speak from experience.

I can tell what worked for me, but only for me. Others have, but result vary.

I went mostly vegetarian and mostly natural foods. It took WORK to do it, because I was a carb queen and loved junk food. I wanted food quick and easy, so a ton of processed and prepackaged junk.

When I decided to do it, it was hard. I can't lie about that. It meant changing EVERYTHING even though it's just 'food'. So I went slow and worked it in. I eat a lot of ethnic foods, Middle Eastern and Asian and Mediterranean. It's been a couple of years now, and it's made a massive difference.

Not only do I feel better than I ever have in my life, my skin and hair look phenomenal. I had skin issues before, with eczema, and I have nothing now. Not one outbreak in over five years, where it was constant before. I don't have to put glossing products on my hair anymore to get shine. My joint pain is minimal where before it was almost disabling.

And mentally? I'm more grounded, more calm, able to retain newly learned things easier. There are so many perks, I can't list them all. It's truly life changing for me.

And I am not a strict vegetarian and it's not morality based. I did it for my health. I will on occasion indulge in high quality meat, generally from a butcher or rancher, and minimally processed. I can have a burger when I want, which about three times a year. I do holiday meals, just ordered a turkey from a local ranch.

I do think all the junk they put in our food has affected us in myriad ways, so changing it all made my world so much better. I don't have high blood pressure anymore, I'm not pre diabetic anymore.

But, like I said, that worked for me.

In the world of drugs though, I have to admit that I have emergency prescription for lorazepam, a tranquilizer. I take 'as needed'. I think many of us who experience mental health issues (or did) sometimes just need a tranquilizer so we can calm down and THINK, figure out a solution to what's going on around us. Of medications available, tranquilizers are not nearly as harmful as psych meds are. I have a prescription for 30 at .5, and that is for one year. Low dose, used sparingly, and I know when I need to have one because I still get intense anxiety on occasion.

I hope you find your path. I hope you feel better. Be blessed.
