What is the incentive for the current disclosure?

probably it's hard to justify keeping UFO documents from decades ago classified forever

the uk certainly thinks it isn't hard to justify. the calvine photo was meant to be declassified this year and they extended the classification another 50 years instead of releasing it. maybe its different in the us, but i doubt it.

it really does seem to me that a small faction in the us government is trying to force this; left to their own devices i don't think the dod would have released anything - they only did anything at all because marco rubio managed to shoehorn something into the covid19 relief bill which forced them to compile the report, and everything i've read suggests that the pentagon suppressed the uap report as much as they possibly could by doing stuff like reassigning the only person in the uaptf with proper security clearance just before they started writing the report
