What do you think of the saying "men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change"?

Maybe true, maybe not.

Girls mature faster across the board. That's true scientifically, and certainly backed up by my anecdotal evidence. Holy shit, just go volunteer in your kids' elementary school and compare the 3rd grade boys to 3rd grade girls. Or go to a professional grad school with a bunch of 22 year olds and compare the women to the men.

Individual variation is greater than the variation between groups, but still, the girls around me in grad school were way more grown up than the guys. True as a young professional as well. The guys don't really seem to hit their peak until they're 30+, while in my organization there are tons of women in their 20's who are absolutely killing it. I think that's a huge part of the reason young guys have such a hard time accepting the idea that women are disadvantaged...they've spent their whole lives getting their asses kicked academically and professionally.

So if you're a young woman with someone your own age, you see him and you see older men, and yeah, he's probably got some catching up to do.
