What is the intrinsic value of ripple's Token (XRP)?

Why do you think international payments take days to clear today?

Bank transfers take ages for fraud protection. To stop someone clearing your account and walking away with the money.

This is not a counterparty risk, the foreign bank isn't worried that your local bank wont pay. It's just giving a grace period for your bank to flag the transactions. The settlement has already happened. Probably in hours, maybe next day.

Even if the settlement was done with XRP the foreign bank wont neccessarily just dish the money out to you the same way it doesn't dish the cash out today.

XRP settlement moves that time from hours to minutes. That's not the really important if the recieving bank marks it unusable for 2 days. Which is what is happening right now.

So we're back to square one. Banks can just trade securities bank one sends it to clearing house, who forward it to foreign bank. Only XRP needed is to cover transaction fees and 20 for the account.

So yes corrispondant banks can slow things down but that is just covering assess with fraud protection not counterparty risk.
