What items that frequently get recommended on here have you rarely/never needed yourself?

Well yeah, of course. Obviously there are always exceptions. There are definitely people out there who could benefit from using a battery pack e.g. if you're travelling in rural areas where it might be days without having access to power. I was simply referring to the average person, and I honestly believe that a power bank is useless for most people.

Your original reply didn't mention anything about being in a unique situation that would neccesitate the use of a power bank so I assumed you were a typical traveller. You listed a bunch of things you use your phone for and I replied back attempting to explain how you don't need a power bank to be able to do all those things. I use my phone to do all those things to and I still don't need a power bank.

Anyway, we both already agreed - hike your own hike. If you want to bring a power bank then go ahead, nothing's stopping you.

The goal of this post was to list things that you DON'T bring that others usually do, as it seems a lot of the hot topics that come up on this sub are the complete opposite - discussing what EXTRA things you bring that other's usually don't. I know it's literally asking for unpopular opinions but I was hoping people would be listing ways they minimize their pack weight that differs to the usual advice on here instead of trying to convince people to bring even more stuff.
