What kind of body horror can magic cause?

Elves in my world are essentially magical beings forced to manifest physically. They are stretched and compressed into something that looks human, but clearly isn't. Eyes without pupils, blank, expressionless faces that are unnervingly beautiful. Smooth, white, almost porcelain skin. Hair that floats as if in water. All of these are common traits of elves.

As for what can happen to humans, any kind of magical healing has the potential to maim or disfigure a patient if the wizard doesn't know what they're doing. Many wizards with no medical knowledge who try to heal end up creating horrific disfigurements due to lack of understanding of how tissue, blood, and bone work together in the human body, compromising several organ systems and so forth. Probably the least awful thing that could happen is extremely weak and excessive scar tissue forming around a wound that can easily reopen with enough force.
