I am not sure about the depression and being socially akward but...Are you from the US? There are federally funded employment agencies (I don't know it is through taxes or grants or both) in your local area that can help you out with this. It's impressive actually. They can get you in touch with some cool training program such as to be a paramedic or a lab technician. For example, to become a paramedic, there is something like a 13 week course offered and you can get up to something like $5,000 in aid to cover the course. Also, the people that train you also hire you and 90 percent of the class finds employment. Paramedics make around 40 grand in the states. I thought this was impressive considering some bachelor degrees make about this much money.
