What kind of profession can I join that will primarily be ethical all or most of the time?

Alas, the arts don't usually pay much - not even a living wage. Must have a day job to support the arts. Also, I've met many actors and among them I have found people who are so full of fantasies and scripts in their heads that they can't always cope well with real life. Conversely, I've met actors who use their acting skills to be con-artists. Have also met actors who used their skills to be Jerks of the World and intimidate or charm others into seeing/doing it their way. I've met or heard of some very self-righteous actors too. It's a very egotistical profession.

I'm assuming there are some fine human-being actors out there. I just haven't met them.

I like most musicians, but again, it's a tough way to make a living.

I don't know any writers except as acquaintances. Again, another tough way to earn a living.

"... it's necessary to think about others and not just oneself." I disagree. I think a lot of actors, musicians, and writers can be quite guilty of navel-gazing. Not all of them are, but they sure can be. Is navel-gazing inherently unethical? Only if the rent is due, I guess.

On the other hand, the world would be a sadder place without Van Gogh's paintings, his navel-gazing, and he was always leaning on others to survive.

Not all creative types are Van Goghs. Thus the need for day jobs.
