What do you like about how your parents raised you?

they raised us to be responsible with money.

we got an allowance as kids and that was it. other than on my birthday, Christmas, and if I made the honor roll, my parents didn't buy me things other than food/clothes and school supplies... if I wanted comics or books, I had to use my allowance. if I wanted a video game, I had to save up and give up my comics for a couple months.

I was made to get a job as soon as I turned 16, and my dad forced me to automatically divert 10% of my paycheck into an IRA (something I still do today).

when I moved back home for a year after college, they made me pay rent so that I didn't get complacent in my part-time job (although, they later gave the rent money back to me when I moved out to help furnish my first apartment)
