What is it like to get a lap dance?

Each strip club is a little different, but they all pretty much operate the same way. You're going to pay a cover charge to walk through the door (usually $10-$20 depending on the club, but can be much higher depending on location, day of the week, and special events). Some clubs also have drink minimum.

Clubs are usually set up with a main stage, table seating, bar area, couches, and VIP rooms. Dancers will dance on stage for a song or two, then rotate to the floor where the trade off with another girl. Dancers who aren't on stage make the rounds on the floor trying to get people to pay for private dances (lap dances).

These are usually ~$20 per song. The girl will walk you over to the couch, make small talk while waiting for the next song to start, then give you a lap dance. Some dancers will get more physical than others, but generally they will sit in your lap, grind on you, smack their ass, run their fingers through your hair, rub their boobs in your face, etc etc.

They will ALWAYS try to get you to do "one more song", sometimes going so far as to grab your hand and walk you to the ATM if you let them. Keep in mind that songs go by quick, and it's really easy to spend a lot of money in a short amount of time if you don't say no.

If you really want to drop some serious cash, you can go to the VIP area, but IMO, this is a great way to get scammed. Girls will tell you that the VIP is "X dollars", then after you hand them they money, they come back and say "that was just to reserve the room, dances are extra" (not all clubs are shady like this, but some are). Then they'll give you prices for different "levels" of dances. This doesn't mean that they're going to fuck/blow you, but you generally get to touch more, whereas you're expected to not touch at all for the $20 dance unless the girl specifically tells you it's OK.

That's about it in a nutshell. If you're planning on going to a club for about an hour, I'd recommend bringing at least $100.

That's pretty much the quick and dirty.
