What You Like And What You Hate Seeing In LGBT+ focused books?

I'm sort of middle ground on this. I know for some, they simply don't want to engage with this material at all. I know for others, they prefer to think of LGTBQ as a distinct genre.

I guess what I like to see is the normalization of LGTBQ people/ characters and have it just be that: normal. Their identity is the focal point to the same extent a straight characters identity is the focal point. I totally respect the differences in experience but. I think it sends a strong message to have our fiction mirror our lives when we are tolerant: they are present without it being a big deal at all.

Give me characters like what we see in the biggest franchises, books, films... and then just make it okay for them to be gay without it dictating the conversation for the duration of the work.
