What is the longest you’ve gone without knowing a person’s name?

I used to do some work with this lady maybe around a year, where we would spend full working day together couple times a week. She was not speaking her native language with me, but her language was perfect. Anyways, she probably misheard my name and called me with an odd version of my name, kind of like Andy for real name but she called me Andio. For some reason I did not correct it the first time it happened and then I was too ashamed to correct it later.

After a year or so she invited me and my wife over to her home to have a dinner with her family, and we went. I introduced myself to her kids, and after the dinner we chatted for couple of hours.

She again called me Andio, and her 10 year old son pointed out that his (my) name is not Andio. The son was delighted to spot his moms mistake and I was ashamed to admit it is not. It was really awkward moment, and I even went further to say that ”Oh but everyone calls me Andio.”

She was clearly ashamed, I was ashamed, my wife was confused and her son was delighted.

I’m still Andio to her and this happened several years ago.
