I do everything in my power to deescalate, and avoid confrontation.

But I just read the Florida laws on use of deadly force, which is where I am at, and it says I can only use it if great bodily harm is imminent. Or they are about to commit a felony, battery and assault are only misdemeanors.

I've been assaulted by past drunk coworker and I reported them to the police and the police never did anything about it, they just gave them a cell phone call which I provided, the guy's girlfriend answered and said he was sleeping and they closed the case and never followed up at all.

it made me feel like they truly don't care unless I fired the gun in self defense. And even then I would of gone to jail because he was "only" assaulting me, with threats of violence. He pushed me once during the whole altercation, and I couldn't leave because I was clocking out for the day and it was necessary to be there.

Again, I felt like the cops would have arrested me if I had been forced to use or pull my firearm because he was unarmed and it would of only been a misdemeanor.
