What made the strange kid at your school so strange?

He was a fairly normal and quiet kid in 9th grade but he really changed over the summer. In 10th grade, he started dressing really gothic and wearing those huge pants with the gigantic chains and long trench coats dragging on the ground. This in itself isn't strange but he also started painting his face white and became completely silent. In English class, he would just sit and draw really evil images obsessively. Our English teacher was a great person who treated us all the same and he never treated Cory (not real name) differently. He knew that some of us were a bit frightened by him but he didn't want Cory to feel excluded and that rubbed off on us because we tried our best to include him and treat him normally. One of the things that really scared me is one day, we were in English class and our teacher asked what we would do if we had a million dollars. When we got to Cory, we were shocked that he actually said anything but what he said gave me chills. He said that he would buy weapons and start and army. I am sure our teacher was concerned but he treated it like it was a normal answer like everyone else's. In the second half of 10th grade, Cory became a full blown Nazi. He would show up to school in Nazi apparel...arm band and all. It was strange because he was actually a sweet kid who seemed to treat everyone the same (when he spoke) so we didn't understand the hate. I am of African descent and I wasn't offended by his Nazi thing because I really felt like he was just looking for a place to belong. He was weird and scary but he was also friendly and he would talk to kids (white, black, all kinds) sometimes. He never said anything racist and I remember my half-jewish, half-black friend asking him if he hated her once and he said no. I mostly felt bad for him and I was legit scared that he would shoot up our school. In computer lab, he would always be in photoshop making Nazi drawings and other violent things. Our teacher would just tell him that he couldn't do that in class. Sadly, Cory killed himself the year after we graduated.
