What made Zombies then different from zombies now?

Speaking for myself of course — I no longer enjoy basic maps and minimal features. I’ve been playing since WaW, so playing basic maps with almost nothing to do but kill zombies has gotten very stale for me. Don’t get me wrong, for a long time I absolutely loved it. But for me, those days of enjoying simplicity is over because I’ve already done that for years.

Because of that, I’m one of those people who likes more complex maps because it actually gives me stuff to do, rather than just get to a high round. Same with callings, factions, etc. Actually having stuff to do and having rewards to work for is the only thing that regularly keeps me coming back.

Having quests and cutscenes with fully fleshed out characters is also what gives me a reason to keep coming back.
