What Makes Apex Tick: A Developer Deep Dive into Servers and Netcode

Disappointed to see no explanation for why my ping is almost double, sometimes triple, despite the lobby/server indicating differently. However, I suspect this is because of matchmaking pulling me to a different server, which is equally frustrating.

Piggybacking off of that it's just as disappointing to see that they have CHOSEN a design which enables people with bad internet/ping to compete. Not that they shouldn't be able to play, but they should not be competitively compensated for. Especially when they are teleporting on my screen which ends up being an advantage for them over me, that's just bullshit. I'm sorry Timmy No-Thumbs won't spend his mom's credit card money on your game if his 500ms ping doesn't allow him to play well, that's not my problem.

Seems like they also aren't interested in improving server tickrate because the cost isn't worth the benefit...more about money. Not that I expect them to spend all of their money on every benefit, but gameplay integrity of their game is obviously not a priority for them.

Appreciate the explanation, but overall really disappointing from them. Seems like a lot of non-answers indicating not much will improve in the future...
