What makes Eva so Good?

It’s iconic. It introduced concepts into the anime scene that weren’t implemented before it. Backwards character development, intense psychological themes, I don’t know much about the history of anime, but NGE was revolutionary in anime’s progression to what it is today. Also, the world of NGE is built wonderfully, it doesn’t spoon feed. It feeds you bits and pieces you have to connect to understand the story, but you don’t have to put in all the effort into look deep in it to enjoy the series. It’s great for analytical minds as well as someone looking for some kick ass mech anime too (albeit little bitch Shinji lol). I mean even with the FAR, like, shit runs deep, and it’s within the bounds of being believable parallel to the themes present in the series. Also, the ost fucking kicks ass man. Decisive battle pumps, Thanatos is great, the themes of the rei’s reflect the characters well, the ost does a great job of accompanying the story. It doesn’t rely on the story to drive the show, but it’s not too over the top in the context itself. It knows exactly where it lies in the course of things and compliments it perfectly. And the characters are built beautifully. Some character’s exteriors are facades that hide their interiors, but their facades fit well with their reasoning for being there. Asuka desiring attention by being a dick because her mom’s situation, gendo, even down to characters like Maya. Everyone is developed and the story develops them well. The animation is beautiful as well. They can say whatever bs they want about the budget, but the one minute scenes are well placed. It knows it’s a work of Art, and sometimes it can be pretentious (especially during the trippy scenes and the live action in EoE) but it doesn’t get too in your face and runs a sweet parallel with the mature themes of the show. In the end it’s a show with everything for everyone, beautiful score, thoughtfully made, and excellently delivered. All things that made it a masterpiece for the ages. (Despite the crummy pacing lol)
